Welcome - Croeso

Welcome to Twynyrodyn Community School, a happy and successful Primary school based in the Merthyr Tydfil Local Authority. Our school is an English speaking school, promoting the Welsh Language and Culture throughout our Curriculum. Our school caters for pupils aged 3-11 from the Twynyrodyn catchment and the surrounding areas.

Twynyrodyn Community School is a primary school that our children, staff and governors are very proud of - a happy and successful school where meeting the needs of all children is paramount. We are conscious of the necessity to provide all our learners with a broad and balanced curriculum, as well as establishing a set of values, which develop responsible caring individuals.

Twynyrodyn Community School strives to achieve its aims through a strong partnership between governors, staff, children, parents and the community. Twynyrodyn Community School has a long history of serving the village of Twynyrodyn, stretching over 65 years, and our school currently caters for over 310 pupils.

Our current school building was opened in 2003. We are very fortunate to have some of the best school grounds in the area including; a large school woodland, yard and outdoor playing areas, as well as housing a modern school building equipped with high quality resources to promote pupil learning.

We base our teaching on four core purposes which we aim to embed throughout the school. These four purposes are to develop pupils who are:

  • Ambitious Capable Learners,
  • Enterprising, Creative Contributors
  • Ethical, Informed Citizens
  • Healthy, Confident Individuals

We want Twynyrodyn Community School to be a school that reflects both your aspirations and our high expectations in terms of behaviour and achievement, and to be a happy place where adults and children interact as lifelong learners. Our school mission statement is: “Learning Today Leading Tomorrow” and we believe that every child that comes to our school will be provided with every opportunity to be the best they can be.

I am sure that your child will be very happy with us and, in future years, will look back on their experiences at Twynyrodyn Community School as being one of the happiest times of his/her life.
