Times tables

Knowledge and understanding of times tables is of extreme importance throughout primary school. A good understanding of the times tables will allow a child to more easily access many areas of mathematics including division, fractions and area and perimeter.

By the end of Year 3 children should be confident with the use of their  2, 3, 4, 5 and 10x table in preparation for Year 4.

By the end of Year 4 children should be confident with the use of their  2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 10x table in preparation for Year 5.

By the end of Year 5 children should be confident with the use of their  2, 3, 4, 5, 8 and 10x table in preparation for Year 6.

By the end of Year 6 children should be confident with their use of all their times tables.

We undertake weekly 'Big Maths' tests which assess pupils understanding of times tables and other areas of number. Children are encouraged to "beat that" and beat their weekly score to show their improvement over time.

Please find below a list of websites with games that can help develop your child's understanding of their multiplication facts and times tables.
